In order to provide the distinctive style and customization options of the Series 5 speakers without compromising performance, we introduced a new finishing technique called Linn Fabrik.

Linn's distinctive Exakt technology carefully analyzes and models the impact of each Fabrik's characteristics on the frequency and phase response of every drive unit within the speakers. By employing a digital crossover, Exakt effectively eliminates any undesirable distortions, guaranteeing consistent and awe-inspiring performance across all Fabrik options. Regardless of the Fabrik you select, your speakers will deliver the same remarkable performance that we meticulously designed here at the factory.

The foundation of any exceptional speaker design lies in an enclosure that enables the drive units to operate with maximum efficiency while preserving the purity of sound.

For the Series 5 speakers, we utilized a layered composite of 3 mm sheets in the construction of the cabinets. This unique approach of using multiple thin layers enhances the tensile strength and rigidity of the material while maintaining its acoustically inert properties. Combined with the braced construction, this design ensures that the cabinet remains free from unwanted vibrations and resonance, providing a solid and stable platform for the drive units to perform optimally.

The ambitious design of the Series 5 speakers presented specific requirements for the drive units that could not be met by existing specifications.

The distinctive configuration of tweeter and bass/mid driver in both models necessitated the development of custom-designed drive units. The bass/mid driver features a unique doped, dual-layer, sliced cone design, and the high-quality tweeter is complemented by an anti-resonant chamber at the rear, resulting in exceptional high-frequency performance when used alongside the renowned Linn 'skoop', which ensures outstanding dispersion characteristics. Additionally, the 530 model required compact yet long-throw, low-resonance units to accommodate the Isobarik bass system.

Every speaker is equipped with a dedicated digital crossover, volume control, digital-to-analog converter, and amplifier for each drive unit. But where are all the extra boxes and cables? This is where Linn's expertise in integrated speaker design truly shines.

Each speaker incorporates an acoustically isolated module mounted on the rear. These modules contain all the necessary Exakt electronics and powerful amplifiers to deliver natural, effortless sound. Cooling is achieved passively without any noisy fans, thanks to the concealed aluminum heat sink located behind the Linn Fabrik finish. By eliminating the need for additional boxes, this integrated speaker design represents our most streamlined solution to date, delivering both power and precision.

Through the implementation of two bass drive units working in tandem and positioned face-to-face at the base of the speaker, the Isobarik Bass technology directs the low-frequency energy downward, radiating it outward through a precisely engineered air gap above the solid machined base.
